Torfaen’s second game against Crusaders Celts was a classic as they went down 36-34.

Torfaen quickly took the lead when Alex Powell raced to the line, converting it himself.

A Harry Jones try and goal levelled things before Wyatt Jones gave Celts the lead. He added the third try with Jones converting to put the score on to 16-6.

Powell’s try in the corner, that he converted himself, put Tigers back in the game and they levelled things when Jason Reynolds eased his way over. Powell converted to give Torfaen a slight 18-16 advantage at the break.

Crusaders regained the lead within seconds of the second period as Wyatt Jones scored and Martin Turner converted.

Torfaen hit back again. Jason Reynolds dived over and Powell converted to put the score onto 24-22 but two more tries from Wyatt Jones, both converted by Turner gave the Celts a 34-24 lead, an advantage that they would hold onto.

But the Tigers weren’t going away. Powell’s try and goal put them back in the game at 34-30 with ten minutes to go.

Turner kicked a penalty with three minutes to go to relieve the pressure on the Celts but the Tigers almost sneaked a draw. Powell scored a try but crucially missed the final kick of the game just after the hooter sounded.
