Following the success of the Celtic Masters Festival last Saturday, Wales Masters have named a 20-player squad for their next international fixture against Ireland, which will take place at Carrickfergus Rugby Club on Saturday 10 October.
The squad features nine players who are in line to make their Wales Masters debut, with representatives from clubs across Wales and England.
The new faces are Paul Roberts, Ian Harvey, Nigel Davies, Gareth L Williams, James Tyler, Dafydd Evans, Garry Sides, Dean Bunting and Robert Humphreys.
Masters Rugby League is a modified version of rugby league designed for older players, allowing people to continue enjoying the sport in a safe, inclusive and social environment. The emphasis is on participation, fitness and camaraderie rather than intense competition.
The game originated in New Zealand in 1992 before spreading to Australia, England and Wales. It is generally open to players aged 35 and over, although many competitions encourage players aged 40, 50, 60 and beyond to take part. Men and women can play together in mixed teams.
