Becoming a match official is a fantastic way to develop new skills, provide you with opportunities, and play your role in developing the sport and its players.
There are lots of reasons people become qualified match officials:
- To support their community club
- To learn and develop skills that can benefit you beyond the pitch
- To earn money from officiating in the JES Group Rugby League conference
- To join a pathway that could lead to high profile fixtures and international matches
Whatever your reasons for wanting to become a match official, and whatever your ambitions are, we are here to support and guide you every step of the way.
If you’d like to become an official Wales Rugby League Referee or Touch Judge, we want to hear from you.
Courses are run before each season, and through Wales Rugby League’s Official’s Board, you could be appointed to officiate at any of our fixtures throughout Wales during the season (May – September).
Our courses are also recognised by the Rugby Football League, meaning there are opportunities to progress into the semi-professional or professional ranks.
