Wales’ Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup squad will receive a special send-off on Saturday 10 October, with supporters invited to make a full day of the occasion at Wrexham University.
The day will begin with a final home warm-up match for Alan Caron’s World Cup squad, before the players officially unveil their World Cup shirts at a special dinner and presentation in the evening.
Free international warm-up
The Wales World Cup side will face a Welsh Select side in a full 80-minute wheelchair rugby league match at the sports hall at Wrexham University, with kick-off at 2pm.
The match is free to attend, and supporters do not need to book in advance. Simply turn up and get behind the World Cup squad in their final match on home soil before they travel to Australia.
The Select side has been chosen by coaches Harry Mitchell-Jones and Paul Sargent and features players from all four Welsh wheelchair clubs.
World Cup shirt presentation and dinner
The action on court will be followed by an evening celebrating the Wales squad, with the World Cup Send-Off Dinner and Shirt Presentation taking place from 5.30pm at the Wrexham University Students Union.
The event, hosted by former Wales rugby league coach Clive Griffiths, will give supporters the opportunity to meet members of the World Cup squad, see the players presented with their official World Cup shirts and help send the team off to Australia in style.
The evening will feature a substantial street food buffet, including:
- Mini cheeseburger sliders
- Posh kebab flatbreads
- Bourbon sausage dirty dogs
- Salt and pepper wedges
- Indian canapés, including bhajis, samosas, spring rolls and pakoras
- Boneless wings with Bang Bang Sauce

Alternative meals will be provided for guests with allergies and dietary requirements.
