Cardiff Demons U14, playing in their first ever game of rugby league, were beaten by Dewsbury Moor 30-6, but actually “won” the second half 6-4 in the friendly encounter in Llantwit Major on Saturday morning.

Grace Larvin scored the opening try for Dewsbury after Demons couldn’t pick up a kick and she pounced. Isabelle Fairclough converted.

Ruby Sharp pounced to score their third just four minutes later. Again converted to make it 18-0 to the visitors.

The next score came from Lexie Widdop celebrating her first ever try for the club. Fairclough couldn’t convert.

Following a delay for an injury, Nell Enright leapt for the fifth try but Fairclough again couldn’t convert. 26-0 at the break.

A second half rout didn’t happen as the Demons took the game to their visitors and scored a well-deserved try 10 minutes into the second half. Sienna McCormack forced her way through for a try under the sticks which she converted herself.
