Year 9 Boys Champion Schools Final – Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf 12 Malet Lambert 22

The Hull school took the year 9 boys’ Champion Schools trophy, as their two-try lead at half-time was too much for the Glantaf lads, who did well to reach their third national final in a row.

Finlay Macklin opened the scoring for Malet Lambert with a clean break try, touching the ball under the sticks. Harry Lawson converted.

The advantage was stretched on 22 minutes when Lawson dived in under the posts and converted his own try to put the half-time score on to 12-0.

It wasn’t long before they extended their lead. Lewis McKinley dived over from dummy half for Malet Lambert’s third try of the match. Lawson’s goal put the score on to 18-0.

Glantaf finally got on the board when Khalil Hassan scored a try when under pressure. Dai Wicks converted..

Then, Jac Witchell managed to scoot his way through a few defenders to ground, with Wicks converting to bring the score back to 18-12.

But Malet Lambert secured their win with the last play of the game thanks to a try in the corner.
