Events confirmed for The Beers of America Adaptive Sports Festival

The inaugural The Beers of America – Adaptive Sports Festival, which Wales Rugby League will proudly be a part of on February 2-3, was officially launched today.

Two International Wheelchair Rugby League matches between Wales and the USA WheelHawks will be main event of this festival that is being hosted by Visit Myrtle Beach and the John T. Rhodes Myrtle Beach Sports Center in South Carolina.

The Beers of America proudly presents an array of high-quality Adaptive Sports. In addition to Wheelchair Rugby League, there’s Wheelchair Basketball, Adaptive/Wheelchair Pickleball, Wheelchair Tennis, and Goalball.

The Beers of America – Adaptive Sports Festival is a groundbreaking event aimed at promoting and showcasing adaptive sports for individuals with disabilities. This festival has been organised to offer people with various physical disabilities the chance to partake in a variety of sports and recreational activities. Our goal is to foster inclusivity, physical activity, and community involvement.

This event marks historic milestones, including the first world-ranking matches that Wales Rugby League has ever played in the Americas, the inaugural international appearance of the Wales Wheelchair side outside of Britain and France, the first-ever Wheelchair Rugby League international matches held in the Americas, and the first two international Rugby League matches scheduled anywhere in the world for 2024.

Matty Cartwright, Founder of The Beers of America, expressed his excitement, stating, “Hosting an international Wheelchair Rugby League game in the USA is a significant moment. The USA boasts an incredible talent pool of athletes, and this event will help the sport expand and reach potential new players, coaches, and supporters, which was not possible in previous internationals that were limited to Europe. So, not only does it put the USA on the Rugby League map, but it also serves as a global advertisement for Myrtle Beach and the remarkable facility where the games will be held.”

To celebrate the festival, the organisers will have a selection of craft beers and some of Myrtle Beach’s finest food trucks on-site. This inaugural Adaptive Sports Festival in Myrtle Beach promises two thrilling days of Adaptive Sports action, craft beer, great food, attendee-participation games, music, and fun for the entire family.

The Beers of America – Adaptive Sports Festival 2024 is at the John T. Rhodes Myrtle Beach Sports Center on Friday, February 2 from 5pm until close and Saturday, February 3 from 10am to 6pm.
