In the RFL Championship, London Broncos, starring the Welsh-speaking partnership of Curtis Davies and Huw Worthington, claimed a hard-fought win over Caleb Aekins‘ Featherstone Rovers for their first victory of the season.
Rhys Williams scored a try for Widnes Vikings in their close win over Sheffield Eagles. Mike Butt, Rhodri Lloyd, Matty Fozard and Gavin Bennion were also in the Widnes side. Gil Dudson played for Oldham in their 18-all draw against Batley Bulldogs. Jude Ferreira made his York Knights debut on the weekend in their close defeat at home to Toulouse Olympique XIII.
North Wales Crusaders, for whom Paddy Jones came off the bench, secured a big 20-10 win at Dewsbury Rams in League One. Elsewhere, Luis Roberts made a try-scoring debut for Midlands Hurricanes as they won away at Goole Vikings.
Denive Balmforth played in Hull FC’s Super League defeat at home to Wigan Warriors, whilst Sam Hughes and Harry Hayes were in action for Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL Pre-Season Challenge.
