There’s a big couple of days ahead for Wales Rugby League with international matches at Masters and PDRL level.
Wales Masters in action first, at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday evening as they take on Canada (kick-off 7pm).
The Welsh toured Canada in July last year and now it’s the Grizzlies turn to cross the Atlantic to play in the code designed for players aged 35 and over.
Andrew Mogford, the 68-year old Great Britain Police player, who has played for Wales Exiles, will become the oldest player ever to turn out for Wales if he takes to the field, beating Wales Wheelchair’s John Doyle who was 65 years and 7 months when he last won a cap for that side in 2019.
Before the Masters international, there’s an exhibition of junior rugby league with Cardiff Blue Dragons taking on South Wales Jets in an U10 match before the capital side take on an East Wales Development XIII at U14 level. Gates open at 5pm and the action starts at 5.10pm.
Then on Saturday at Pontypool United RFC, Wales PDRL take on world champions England in a Physical Disability Rugby League international match (kick-off 2pm).
Physical Disability Rugby League is a running, mixed contact adaption of Rugby League played by players with a range of impairments that limit their mobility or coordination.
For the PDRL sides, it’s the first of two games. The return leg in England will be played on the afternoon of Saturday 12th October at Salford City Roosters RLFC with the players and officials from both sides then attending the Super League Grand Final.
