Wales Masters name squad for Cardiff Arms Park

Wales Masters have named an 18-player squad for their match against Ireland at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday 25th May (kick-off 5pm).

Masters Rugby League is played by people aged 35 and over with the rules being slightly modified to cater for the older player. Historically, there have been no winners, no champions and no cup finals – Masters is about is all about the spirit of the game. The most important rule is: “Everyone has to buy a drink for their opposite number!”

Wales Masters Head Coach, Chris Thomas, said: “We would first like to say congratulations all the players on their selection for Wales Masters to face Ireland Masters Team at Cardiff Arms Patk on the 25th May 2024. Our selection for this game has brought seven first-debutant caps into the team. The team is going to made up of seven players from Cardiff Blue Dragons, six players from North Wales Buccaneers and five players from our Welsh Exiles.

“The steering committee has looked to improve the continuing growth of Wales Rugby League Masters. This season sees Masters included in the WRL pathway, thus adding longevity to a player’s career. This year we have instigated a festival of Origin rugby to draw more players into the game, currently our interest has doubled the playing database, so the future is looking bright with exciting times ahead.”
