The Wales Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup fundraising campaign has reached £5,000, taking Cymru halfway to the £10,000 target.
The 10,000 x £1 = CYMRU appeal was launched to help the squad meet extra costs to represent Wales at the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Australia in October 2026.
Every pound raised is helping cover the squad’s expenses for the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in Australia, including travel to and from airports, accommodation before departure, excess baggage for the team’s 15 wheelchairs, minibus and kit van fuel, extended medical insurance, international driving insurance, spare wheelchair parts and medical supplies.
The response from supporters has been fantastic, with the campaign now passing the £5,000 mark.
Wales head coach Alan Caron said: “This is a fantastic milestone for us and everyone involved with Wales Wheelchair Rugby League. To see the campaign reach £5,000 shows just how much support there is for this team.
“But we don’t want to stop at halfway. We have another £5,000 to raise, so we’re asking everyone to keep spreading the word and help us reach that £10,000 target.
“Every pound makes a difference and every person who gets behind Cymru is helping this squad prepare for the World Cup.”
To celebrate reaching the halfway point, the Wales players have come together for a special celebration video, marking the occasion and recognising the incredible momentum behind the campaign.
