Wales win Plate Final at Student Regional Champs

Wales relinquished their Student Regional Championships title to the Midlands last weekend but they did win the consolation Plate Final, beating Yorkshire 7-0.

Patrick Evans scored the only try of the game that was converted by Scott Amber. In the dying moments of the game, Amber added the extra point with a superbly executed field goal to secure the win for Wales.

The Welsh side started their day by losing to the Midlands 0-12 before beating Ireland 28-0.

Wales assistant coach Andy Jordan said: “I’m not disappointed at all with the weekend. Yorkshire and Midlands were both tough teams and the new lads in the side were fantastic.

“We rediscovered our form after being caught in the headlights first game and I’m pleased with that as we were outstanding in next two games.

“It was all really useful for us as we detetmined our squad for April for the internationals.”
