Ian Golden and Harry Jones look back at last weekend’s action featuring Welsh internationals and hopefuls…
In Super League, Luis Roberts was in the Leeds Rhinos men’s side as they went down at Hull Kingston Rovers, whilst in her first Wheelchair Rugby League action since captaining Wales over in the USA, Jodie Boyd-Ward made a cameo in Leeds’ pre-season development game against York. Jodie showcased her ability as she assisted both sides in developing their talent.
Three Challenge Cup matches on the weekend featured Welsh players. Widnes Vikings had a good away win at Bradford Bulls. It was a BBC clash that not long ago would have been a clash between two Super League clubs. Matty Fozard, Rhodri Lloyd and Ant Walker lined up for Widnes, with Chester Butler playing for Bradford.
Big plays in big moments 💪
How about this pressure-relieving interception from the captain @Rhodrilloyd93 as the Vikings were down to 12 on Sunday.#COYV 🧪 #WeAreWidnes pic.twitter.com/w8aCkJVP1x

Featherstone Rovers, starring Caleb Aekins, easily saw off the challenge of Billy Walkley‘s Keighley Cougars, and on Sunday night’s TV game, Swinton Lions knocked out Oldham, with Rhys Williams and Gavin Bennion on the winning side and former Wales captain Craig Kopczak in the Roughyeds’ line-up.
