Do you qualify to play rugby league for Wales?

As you may be aware, Wales Rugby League have senior teams in 2021 Rugby League World Cup and Emerging Nations World Cup competitions in England.

Our Women, Men, Wheelchair and Students teams are all competing and the eligibility rules have recently been updated.

If you consider yourself to be an international standard player for these teams (you must be in the first team squad at a professional club for the men’s team), then please check all the necessary qualifications below, plus check to see if you have the necessary documents, and fill in the form if you want to be considered.

To be able to play for any Welsh international side, you must be able to prove at least one of the following.

  • That you were born in Wales (birth certificate needed)
  • You have a Welsh-born parent (yours and one parent’s birth certificate needed)
  • You have a Welsh-born grandparent (yours, one parent’s and one grandparent’s birth certificates needed)
  • You have lived in Wales for at least five years (proof of residency needed)
  • You study in Wales (to qualify for the Wales Students side only)
