Biggest day of the season so far this Saturday

It’s the biggest day of the season this Saturday in the JES Group Rugby League Conference, where the semi-finalists and the minor premiers of the competition could be decided.

All three games that are taking place have a big purpose for all six clubs.

There’s a big top of the table clash at Penallta RFC where South Wales Jets take on Aberavon Fighting Irish. The Jets are unbeaten this season, whilst Aberavon have just the one defeat, which was away to Cynon Valley Cavaliers on June 15.

If the Jets win, they secure top of the table with one round to go. If they lose, they’ll also have to win their final game to guarantee top spot. A win for Aberavon will guarantee them a home semi-final, something Jets have already secured.

It’s third-placed Cynon Valley Cavaliers’ final game of the season as they travel to Torfaen Tigers who are currently in sixth. A win for them will guarantee them a place in the semi-finals and will more than likely end the Tigers’ hopes. A win for the Tigers should put them level on points with either Bridgend or Rhondda (unless those two sides draw on Saturday), but probably with a vastly inferior points difference.

Fourth-placed Bridgend Blue Bulls take on fifth-placed Rhondda Outlaws at Brynglas Field in Pyle knowing that a win should put them into the semi-finals. If Outlaws win by at least 17 points, then the two sides will swap positions ahead of the final weekend.

If the Bulls and the Cavaliers both win their games, then the semi-finalists will be confirmed with one round to go. If one or both of them slip up, then it all goes down to the final week.

All matches are due to kick-off at 2.30pm. Please keep following WRL’s and the clubs’ social media feeds for updates and details on entry prices.
