Wales won a hard-fought match against the UK Armed Forces, with every player giving their all.
Scotty Turner gave Wales the lead on five minutes, converting his own try.
The Forces soon struck back with a James Simpson-Hill try that Tristan Norfolk couldn’t convert but he made up for that by grounding from the next set.
Former Wales player Martin Lane thought he’d scored against them, but he received a forward pass before touching down. Then Simpson-Hill was tackled before he grounded.
But Norfolk finally got over the line on 22 minutes, avoiding a tackle to score, but still couldn’t land the goal.
Lane, after being denied again due to a forward pass, finally scored on 27 minutes. Norfolk, out of luck with his kicks today, hit the post with the conversion attempt.
Wales started to look for a try back. Scotty Turner’s grubber, kicked a bit too hard for anyone to collect, was the closest they got to a further score before the break and UK Armed Forces were 16-6 up at the break.
As they did in the first half, Wales were first to score. Scotty Turner was denied, being talked just before he grounded, but from the next tackle, Stuart Williams avoided Lane to get the first try of the half. Scotty Turner converted.
Then, Wales were level. Matthew Turner passed well to find Jodie Boyd-Ward who avoided her markers to score in the corner. Scotty Turner couldn’t land the kick but did land a penalty for Wales to regain the lead.
With 13 minutes remaining, UKAF nearly regained the lead, but Justin Wells was tackled before he grounded.
But they eventually did after Toby Burton-Carter found a gap to score, converting his own try.
Then with six minutes to go, Wales got the winner. Scotty Turner avoided his marker to score in the corner, converting it himself.
And there was drama with three minutes to go as Lane looked like he’d given UKAF the lead again, only for the try to be chalked off.
