Wales Students to face All Golds on Sunday

Wales Students face Bristol All Golds in a friendly match this Sunday at Lockleaze Sports Centre (kick-off 3pm) in preparation for the Four Nations tournament this summer.

The Students faced a North Wales Crusaders Development side a fortnight ago and won an exciting match 46-30, where try scorers for Wales were Jacob Purcell, Llewellyn Hawkes (2), Lewis Ingram, Kavan Phillips, Jarrad Hughes, and a brace from Kian Lloyd taking his tally to six in two games.

Now they’ll face an All Golds side who are preparing for the new season of the Southern Conference.

Wales Students head coach Clive Griffiths will select from a 26-man training squad and will give a run-out to as many as possible.

Griffiths said: “We benefited greatly from our weekend in North Wales recently as we continue to prepare for the Student Four Nations.

“We see this as another big opportunity to rubber-stamp our team combination whilst giving everyone in the 26-man squad game time.

“We expect to play a well-drilled, experienced All Golds team, and we will have to bring our Class A game throughout the 80 minutes to get a win.

“We are grateful to our hosts for agreeing to play and assist us in our preparation.”
