Big Championship wins for our Welsh – Gwylio’r Cymry

London Broncos had an outstanding win in the men’s Championship, beating Hunslet 72-6 away from home. It was their first victory in eight games with our Welsh international trio Curtis Davies, Huw Worthington and Matt Ross all playing a big role in the win. Another set of Welsh internationals tasted victory in the Championship, with Rhys Williams scoring a try in Widnes Vikings’ home win over Toulouse Olympique XIII. Mike Butt, Rhodri Lloyd, Matty Fozard and Gavin Bennion were also in the Widnes line-up. Elsewhere, Caleb Aekins‘ Featherstone Rovers lost at York Knights.

Our three players in the men’s Super League this week all came off the bench. Luke Thomas was a winner with Warrington Wolves over Hull FC. On his Catalans Dragons debut, Denive Balmforth was part of their 32-0 win over Huddersfield Giants.  Charlie Glover played for Salford Red Devils in their defeat at St Helens. 

Jake Nottingham and Isaac Holdsworth were in the Warrington Wolves Super League academy side that beat Hull FC. Sam Dickenson played for Warrington Wolves as they beat Sam Grice‘s Castleford Tigers. Robbie Brook was also a winner as Wakefield Trinity overcame Hull KR away.

In the Women’s Super League, Wales captain Bethan Dainton scored a try for Leeds Rhinos as they beat Leigh Leopards at home. Dani McGifford continued her good form with a try for St Helens, but they could only manage a 22-all draw at Wigan Warriors. Agnes Wood played a part in York Valkyrie’s win at Warrington Wolves, whilst Gracie Hobbs was also a winner, with Huddersfield Giants at Barrow Raiders.

Ashlea Prescott ran in two tries for Featherstone Rovers as they kept up their charge at the top of the Women’s Championship table by beating Castleford Tigers. Kathryn Salter and Emily Hughes helped London Broncos win at Sheffield Eagles.

Finally, in the NRL, Harry Hayes came off the bench in Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs’ loss at Penrith Panthers.
