A 20-player squad has been named for the Chairman’s XIII fixture against Cumbria on Friday 13 October at the LEL Arena (7.30pm).
The squad includes eight players who were part of the Men’s senior squad in Rugby League World Cup 2021 last Autumn, including Luke Thomas. Thomas is also one of four players who have been involved in Wales age group squads in recent years, alongside Billy Walkley, Kyle Huish and Charlie Glover. Also included is Josh Lynch, the Warrington Wolves winger who spent the season on loan with North Wales Crusaders, helping them to the Betfred League One play-off final
John Kear will coach the team in this uncapped fixture, which forms part of Kyle Amor’s testimonial and is also providing an opportunity for Wales Rugby League to recognise the contribution of Brian Juliff, who stood down as Chair in August after 11 years in the role.
Kear said: “It’s great that this game allows us to recognise the contributions of both Brian and Kyle, and it’s one we’re looking forward to playing in.
“It’s also going to be a special evening for Dan Fleming, as he plays his final game before retiring.
“There are some young players who will get the opportunity to show what they can do as we look ahead to full international fixtures next season.”
