Chairman’s XIII to represent WRL against Cumbria in October

A Chairman’s XIII will represent Wales Rugby League (WRL) against Cumbria on Friday 13 October (7.30pm) at the LEL Arena.

The match provides an opportunity for WRL to recognise the contribution of Brian Juliff, who recently stood down from his role as Chair after eleven years to support his wife Anne as she continues treatment for a rare form of blood cancer.

The fixture forms part of the testimonial year for proud Cumbrian, Kyle Amor, who played more than 350 games during his career. Kyle represented Ireland at international level, plus St. Helens, Wakefield Trinity, Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves, Widnes Vikings and Whitehaven RLFC in a distinguished club career that saw Super League and Challenge Cup success. Kyle has also played for Cumbria in exhibitions matches, most recently against Jamaica ahead of the Rugby League World Cup last Autumn.

John Kear will coach the side and is looking forward to the occasion.

“Brian has been fantastic for rugby league in Wales for more than a decade and it’s a fitting way to recognise all he has done with a Chairman’s XIII for this match,” said John.

“We will pick as strong as squad as possible to reflect that and we’re sure those who come to the game will enjoy a competitive 80 minutes.

“Kyle has enjoyed a stellar career and I’m sure Cumbrians will come out in good numbers to acknowledge all he has achieved.”
