Coleg y Cymoedd to sponsor and host Junior Magic Day

Coleg y Cymoedd are sponsoring and hosting the junior “Magic Day”, which is to be held this Sunday at the Caerphilly Centre of Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach.

Junior Magic Day will allow the college’s coaching staff to view the best junior talent that South Wales has to offer, all in one day.

Mark Jones, the head of rugby league at Coleg y Cymoedd, and Geraint Kettley, the head of strength and conditioning, will be there to talent ID for the College and for the WRL Origin and International squads.

Jones said: “As a college, we are looking forward to the event. This year sees more games being played which is very exciting. The standard was excellent last year and we can’t wait to have the opportunity to promote our rugby league programme, and to discuss this with players and parents.”

Rob Davies, a development coach at Wales Rugby League, said: “The College are key partners of Wales Rugby League offering a range of courses allowing 16-19 year olds to combine their further education studies with playing Rugby League at a higher level.

“A big thank you to title sponsor Coleg Cymoed for once again hosting our Junior Magic Day.”
