Crusaders move clear at the top – Gwylio’r Cymry

North Wales Crusaders are now three points clear at the top of League 1 after beating nearest rivals Midlands Hurricanes in a tight clash in Colwyn Bay on Sunday, with Ant Walker and Paddy Jones in their side. Keighley Cougars, starring Billy Walkley, sneaked their second win of the season, beating Rochdale Hornets 26-25 at home. Dewsbury Rams, fielding Dec Tomlinson, lost at home to Goole Vikings.

London Broncos put up a good fight at Toulouse Olympique XIII in the Championship, but eventually went down 24-16. Huw Worthington scored a try for London with Curtis Davies and Matt Ross also starring. Elsewhere, Widnes Vikings and Halifax Panthers fought out a thrilling 24-all draw on Sunday with Rhys Williams, Rhodri Lloyd, Gavin Bennion and Matty Fozard starring for the Vikings who were at home. Featherstone Rovers recovered from their Wembley defeat by beating Hunslet at home, with Caleb Aekins in the Rovers side. Batley Bulldogs, fielding Elliot Kear, lost at home to Doncaster.

In the men’s Super League, Denive Balmforth came off the bench in Hull FC’s home defeat to Castleford Tigers, whilst Charlie Glover did the same for Salford Red Devils as they lost at home to St Helens. His brother Billy Glover, was in the Salford reserves side who also lost to a Saints side featuring Oliver Garmston. Elsewhere in the reserves, Wakefield Trinity and Bradford Bulls fought out a 24-all draw. Robbie Brook was in the Wakefield side. Luke Thomas was in the Warrington Wolves line-up as they lost at Leeds Rhinos.

In Women’s Super League, Wigan Warriors had no hangover from their Wembley win as they beat Huddersfield Giants 58-0 away from home. Carys Marsh came off the bench for Wigan with Gracie Hobbs in the Giants’ side. Elsewhere, Bethan Dainton scored a try for Leeds Rhinos as they hammered Warrington Wolves, whilst Agnes Wood scored a try for York Valkyrie as they won at Leigh Leopards.

London Broncos remain top of the Women’s Championship after winning 56-12 at Hull Kingston Rovers. Kathryn Salter kicked London’s six goals. Ashlea Prescott scored a try for Featherstone Rovers as they beat Cardiff Demons to leapfrog over them into second place. With the 22-0 win, the understrength visitors were nilled in the league for the first time in their history. Only seven Welsh internationals who featured for Cardiff, which is a record low for one game. They were Amberley Ruck, Meg Whittaker, Katie Carr, Ffion Jenkins, Charlie Mundy, Sara Jones and Lucia Davies.

Finally, in Australia, Harry Hayes scored a try for Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs as they beat Parramatta Eels 30-12.
