Crusaders remain unbeaten in League – Gwylio’r Cymry

North Wales Crusaders ruled rivals round on Easter Weekend as they kept up their unbeaten League 1 record, beating Midlands Hurricanes 31-18 at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. Ant Walker scored the final Crusaders try of the day, whilst Luis Roberts was in the Midlands side.

In other League 1 matches, Will Evans helped Workington Town to a 10-8 win over Whitehaven in the Cumbrian derby, George Birch and his Newcastle Thunder side lost at Dewsbury Rams, whilst Billy Walkley was in the Keighley Cougars side that lost at Goole Vikings giving the small town side their first ever win in this competition.

In the Championship, Widnes Vikings and Oldham drew 10-10 with Welsh players on both sides. Rhodri Lloyd went over for both of Widnes’ tries, with Mike Butt and Matty Fozard also starring. Gil Dudson was in the Oldham line-up.

Elsewhere, Caleb Aekins helped Featherstone Rovers to a win over York Knights, Elliot Kear was on the scoresheet for Batley Bulldogs in their close defeat at home to Hunslet, Curtis Davies, Huw Worthington and Matt Ross were in the London Broncos side that lost at Barrow Raiders, and Connor Davies also suffered defeat as his Halifax side lost at home to Bradford Bulls.

In Super League, Denive Balmforth was in the Hull FC side that lost at home to Hull Kingston Rovers. In the academy, Sam Grice scored a try for Castleford Tigers as they beat Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. Taylor Robinson was also in the Tigers side with Robbie Brook playing for Trinity. Jake Nottingham and Junior Westwood helped Warrington Wolves to a big win over Leigh Leopards. Oliver Garmston was in the St Helens side that won at Wigan Warriors, whilst in the scholarship, Tyler Mills scored a try for Saints as they beat Bradford Bulls.

London Broncos took a Super League scalp in the Women’s Challenge Cup, winning away at Barrow Raiders 22-14. Kathryn Salter kicked three goals for London, with Emily Hughes also starring. Huddersfield Giants also qualified for the last eight after beating Featherstone Rovers, with Gracie Hobbs in the Giants line-up. Both Cardiff Demons and St Helens were already through but they played off for top spot in the three-team group, with Dani McGifford scoring for Saints in their victory. Cardiff featured 12 Welsh internationals, Meg Whittaker, Lucia Davies, Amberley Ruck, Rhi Parker, Sara Jones, Jasmine Gibbons, Ffion Jenkins, Charlie Mundy, Amy Price, Hannah Jones, Shaunni Davies and Katie Carr.
