Wales Dragonhearts, the side that represents the community game in Wales, take on Germany this Saturday at Aberavon Harlequins RUFC (kick-off 2.30pm).
The two sides have met twice before, one home one away, both classics, one win each, with 28 tries being scored over those matches.
This match also celebrates 30 years since Wales Dragonhearts first played an international. That was in May 1994 when they were so close to beating England Amateurs, but went down 14-10 at the Morfa Stadium in Swansea. Two future senior men’s internationals played in that match, Jason Lee and Dai Williams, the first two of a number to progress and win a full men’s cap.
Many of the Dragonhearts past players will be in attendance to watch the match and celebrate the anniversary.
Following this match, the Dragonhearts will take on Poland away on November 9th.
Head coach Simon Reynolds said: “This year has again been a successful one with us starting early with open trails which has brought in some new blood through heritage. We set out with an aim to make this year a memorable one and I’m sure Germany will give us a really good challenge, as they have done in the past.”
The squads have primarily been selected from the respective nation’s local leagues, with all four German clubs supplying players.
