Gwylio’r Cymry – Butler continues to serve Bradford well

The 1895 Cup reached the quarter-final stage last weekend and Welsh internationals were in action.

Chester Butler scored a try to help Bradford Bulls go just one game from reaching Wembley Stadium. Rhys Williams and Gavin Bennion miss their chance as they were on the defeated Swinton Lions side. Bradford will take on Wakefield Trinity in the semi-finals.

There will also be no Wembley return for Elliot Kear this year as his Batley Bulldogs side were beaten by Sheffield Eagles, who face York Knights in the other semi-final.

In Super League, Luis Roberts helped Leeds Rhinos to an 18-10 win over Catalans Dragons.

The women’s and wheelchair seasons are fast approaching and there was pre-season action in both of these categories. Three of Wales Wheelchair’s historic USA tour squad, Stephen Jones, Harry Jones and Mason Baker, all got on the scoresheet in North Wales Crusaders’ friendly win over Sheffield Eagles. The two clubs were able to stage first team and reserves friendlies with several potential Wales internationals in both Crusaders line-ups, their reserves also recording a victory over Sheffield.

Finally, Brogan Evans came off the bench to help Wigan Warriors women to a friendly match win over Ashlea Prescott‘s Featherstone Rovers.
