Gwylio’r Cymry – Welsh stars help teams top tables

In the Women’s Championship, Kathryn Salter kicked three goals as London Broncos won at Swinton Lionesses to go top of the table. Cardiff Demons weren’t playing, but they host Swinton at The Lextan Gnoll this Sunday (kick-off 2pm). Dani McGifford was a try scorer in St Helens’ victory at Huddersfield Giants in the Women’s Super League, whilst Bethan Dainton was in the Leeds Rhinos side that lost at York Valkyrie.

In the men’s Super League, Denive Balmforth was in the Hull FC side that won at Leigh Leopards. Charlie Glover was 18th man for Salford Red Devils in Super League, taking to the bench at Wakefield Trinity just after finishing a reserve match for the club. Had he been needed, it would have been a rare case where a player took part in two matches in a day. He and his brother Billy Glover were in the reserves side that lost to Wakefield, who fielded Robbie Brook. Elsewhere, Dafydd Morgan scored his first try for Bradford Bulls but couldn’t prevent defeat to Sam Grice‘s Castleford Tigers. Oliver Garmston was in the St Helens reserves side that beat Huddersfield Giants, and Luke Thomas played for Warrington Wolves in their narrow loss at home to Hull Kingston Rovers.

North Wales Crusaders remain top of League 1 following a 30-6 away win at Keighley Cougars. Ant Walker and Paddy Jones came off the bench for Crusaders with Billy Walkley on the wing for the Cougars. Midlands Hurricanes, for whom Luis Roberts starred, remain third after their win over Whitehaven. George Birch was in action for Newcastle Thunder in their defeat at Rochdale Hornets.

In the RFL Championship, Caleb Aekins helped Featherstone Rovers to a big 46-4 win over Elliot Kear‘s Batley Bulldogs. Gil Dudson‘s Oldham had a good home win over Connor Davies‘ Halifax Panthers, both players starting from the bench. A try from Matty Fozard wasn’t enough for Widnes Vikings as they lost away at Bradford Bulls. Rhys Williams, Rhodri Lloyd and Gavin Bennion were also in the Widnes side. Curtis Davies, Huw Worthington and Matt Ross were in the London Broncos side that lost at Doncaster.

In the NRL, Sam Hughes and Harry Hayes were both in the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs side that lost at home to the Dolphins.
