South Wales Jets’ father and son duo Jason and Jamie Reynolds dominated the early proceedings. Jason raced over for the first try in the second minute, with Jamie following him over two minutes later.
Jamie converted the first try to put him onto 300 league points over the four-year history of the competition, only the fourth player to achieve this.
Leighton Morris scored the third try on eight minutes with Jamie again converting well from touch to put the score on to 16-0.
Lee Sargent looked like he’d scored a try back, but had it ruled out for diving.
From the penalty, Jets went up field for their fourth, with Jamie Reynolds’ scoring the try and goal. Morris got he fifth, with Reynolds unable to convert, but the score ticked up to 26-0.
Libbie Sargent scored a try back for Cardiff, grounding in the corner. Brother Lee Sargent couldn’t land the kick but did go over for the next try. Libbie landed the goal to put the score back to 26-10.
But Jason Reynolds retrieved the ball from kick-off and zoomed over for another Jets try. Morris missed the goal attempt.
Following a penalty for a double tag, Jason Reynolds scored his fourth try. Mark Williams converted.
Not to be outdone by his father, Jamie Reynolds got the next try, scoring under the sticks. Williams converted to put the score onto 42-10 at the break.
It took just a minute for Williams to increase Jets’ lead, reaching out well for a try and converting.
Three more Jason Reynolds tries followed, with three Williams goals extending the lead to 66-10.
Morris was next over to complete his hat-trick. Jamie Reynolds kick was short.
Cardiff weren’t scoreless in the second half. Jess Booth did well to ground under pressure on the hour mark, but Libbie Sargent couldn’t convert.
But Jets were soon back into the scoring. Two Jamie Reynolds tries and goals put the score up to 82-14.
Brogan Evans scored Jets’ 16th try of the match, but her conversion attempt hit the crossbar.
Morris was next, scoring his fifth try of the game, with Jamie Reynolds landing his sixth goal.
Cardiff got another try back when youngest player on the pitch, Charlie Puddick went in under the sticks but Tomos Parker missed the kick.
