Caleb Aekins had a good start to the month, helping Bradford Bulls to a win over York Knights. He also scored a try in two losses, those to Leigh Leopards and Catalans Dragons. Denive Balmforth was in the York side all month, finally tasting victory in the fourth match, away at Castleford Tigers. Luke Thomas started as prop in all four Warrington Wolves’ matches last month, three of them wins.
Widnes Vikings shut out three sides in a row in June, with Mike Butt scoring a try in each of the wins, 46-0 v Dewsbury Rams, 52-0 v Rochdale Hornets and 48-0 v Hunslet. Matty Fozard was also over for a try against Rochdale and Hunslet, as well as scoring in the defeat to Oldham.
Billy Walkley was once again on top try-scoring form in June, getting a brace against both Barrow Raiders and Whitehaven, the latter a victory. He also played in the win at home to Dewsbury Rams. Max Clarke went over for two tries for Keighley Cougars, in a month of defeats for the club, at Goole Vikings.
Newcastle Thunder had an outstanding month of June, scoring 242 points over four matches and only conceding six. Bailey Antrobus and Jude Ferreira both played in all games, with Antrobus getting a try in each of the wins over Hunslet, Keighley and Rochdale, and Ferreira scoring a try against Whitehaven.
Oliver Garmston scored a hat-trick of tries in Salford’s big win over Workington Town, whilst Owain Abel went over for one. Both also scored in the narrow defeat to Barrow Raiders. Garmston started the month with a try in the defeat against Doncaster, whilst Sam Bowring also starred in the Workington win. Fin Yates also played against Barrow, and guested on loan for North Wales Crusaders in their defeat at Whitehaven.
It was two wins, two defeats for Halifax Panthers in June, with Curtis Davies scoring a try in the win over North Wales Crusaders and the loss to Batley Bulldogs. Twin brother Connor Davies joined him in three of the matches. Ant Walker played in two losses with Hunslet.
