Sponsors boost under 19s in European Championships

Wales under 19s trip to Italy to compete in the European Championships has been boosted by the support of a number of sponsors.

Coleg y Cymoedd Rugby League Academy will take pride of place on the front of the Welsh shirt as main sponsor. The Academy was launched in 2021 to provide aspiring players in Wales with the chance to join a Super League team. Under the brand, Wales Rugby League National Development Academy in partnership with Salford Red Devils, the initiative operates out of Coleg y Cymoedd’s Ystrad Mynach campus.

Players at the academy receive elite coaching from the Salford Red Devils, Wales Rugby League and Cymoedd’s expert team of coaches, while also studying a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in sport. Splitting their time between practical training and academic studies, players learn about a variety of topics including sports nutrition, sports injuries, fitness testing, match officiating, anatomy and physiology.

A Salford Red Devils Coach attends monthly to provide training, advice and professional insights. They will also act as scouts to assess player’s skills, with a view to providing those that impress with the chance to play with the club in the Super League.  A number of players in the under 19s squad are on this particular pathway.

Dyno Plumbing will feature on the back of the shirt. The Dyno-Rod story dates back to 1963 when former airline pilot, Jim Zockoll decided to pioneer a new electromechanical technique to unblock drains in the UK. Jim’s efforts paid off, and within a short time, Dyno-Rod was one of the leading names in the drainage industry.

In 2004, Dyno-Rod became part of the Centrica group alongside British Gas and Scottish Gas. This backing has helped Dyno-Rod to continue growing and supporting an ever-expanding portfolio of customers. They have over 50 years of experience under our belts having cleared over half a million drains in the past two years.

Also on the reverse of the shirt are Upper GI West. Upper GI West was founded in 2008 by Welshman, Alan Thomas, and Krishna Epari. Based in Western Australia, they specialise in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery.

On the shirt sleeves are School Road Dental Surgery and Hennah Heywood Law. Ecolab – the global leader in water, hygeine and infection prevention solutions and services that protect people and vital resources – are on the back of the shorts, joined by Pill Unity, the community group that is working with the Invest Local programme.

Mark Jones, General Manager of Wales Rugby League, commented: “I’d like to thank all our team and individual player sponsors for their support. Their investment means these young men will have an experience that will not only allow them to represent their country and develop as rugby league players, but provide a life experience, too.”
