Saturday 30th March 2024, saw a fantastic reunion and cap presentation at The Philarmonic in Cardiff.

Originally planned as a small reunion for the 1994 Wales Amateurs (the team now known as Dragonhearts) side, the invitation was then opened up to all from that side from the early 90s and also the Wales Students sides, who played in the 1989 and 1992 World Cups. Two from the 2005 Wales Students World Cup side also turned up for good measure.

No physical caps were ever awarded in those days, so we took the chance to do a cap presentation to the 22 players who were able to make it from that era, some of whom played for both Wales sides. Wales Students head coach from that era, Clive Griffiths, and Wales Amateur coach from 1994, Danny Sheehy, presented the caps (both coaches also had an involvement in each other’s side, Clive was an advisor for the Wales Amateurs and Danny was assistant coach of Wales Students).

The presentations finished by all the former players and coaches raising a glass to the players from both sides that we have lost too early. Paul Riley, Mike Groom and Chris Greenhall from Wales Students, and Paul Morgan, Scott Bessant and Dale Tucker from Wales Dragonhearts.
