WRL Nines tournament this Saturday at Penallta

The Wales Rugby League domestic season opens this Saturday at Penallta RFC with a seven-team Nines tournament as Rhondda Outlaws defend their trophy that they won two years ago.

The first game, between hosts South Wales Jets and their local rivals Torfaen Tigers, kicks off at 10am.

All sides play each other once, played on two pitches, before the semi-finals at 3.30pm and the Grand Final at 4pm.

Five of the eight WRL men’s sides are taking part, along with sides from Cardiff University and Swansea University, who recently met in the first ever Welsh Varsity Rugby League match.

Entry for the day is £5 but children under 15 are free.
