This year’s WRL Wheelchair League Grand Final will take place on the neutral venue of Llandrindod Wells Sports Centre on Sunday 8th March (kick-off 1.30pm).
The four-round competition started last weekend when South Wales Jets beat last season’s Grand Final winners 34-30 in Ystrad Mynach, with Cardiff Blue Dragons and Aber Valley Wolves fighting out a 34-all draw.
With just two more regular-season rounds to go, every match is important, and we may not see the make-up of the Grand Final sides until the final week, although if Jets and Crusaders both win their second matches on Sunday 22nd February, then the Jets will be confirmed as the first finalists.
Stephen Jones, head of Wheelchair Rugby League in Wales said: “This is a great opportunity to showcase our sport to a new audience. We’ve been at Llandrindod Wells for Wales training in the past, but it’s the first time we’ve taken a league match there. I’m sure it will be an exciting match, whoever makes the final.”
Following the Grand Final, Crusaders go into the RFL Championship, whilst the southern sides will organise local competitions around Wales training and matches. The season will then end in September with a two-round knock-out cup competition between the Blue Dragons, Wolves, Jets and Crusaders.
