Wales U19 to face Widnes and Aberavon

The Wales U19 side have organised two warm-up matches ahead of their European U19 Championships campaign.

The first is tomorrow, Saturday 2nd May, where they’ll take on Widnes Vikings U19s at Halton Farnworth Hornets ARLFC, kick-off 2.30pm.

Then, on Saturday 6th June, they take on Aberavon Fighting Irish at Harlequins Field, Port Talbot, also a 2.30pm kick-off.

Talking about this Saturday’s match, Wales U19 head coach Gary Dunn said: “The squad has been building to this since the culmination of the disappointing end of the Four Nations last year.

“It is an important step on the road to the European Championship in France and the development of the 2026 U19s squad. It is also a demonstration of the Wales International pathway in work, with the squad suffering from injuries and commitments to Academy programmes, it has allowed some opportunities for the U17’s to step up to the squad for this fixture.

“Massive thanks go out to Widnes Vikings and particularly Danny Durbin, who have been extremely supportive in getting the fixture played. And this is hopefully the start of a strong relationship with a great Rugby league club that has historically strong links with Wales and its players.

Wales U19 are also fundraising for their trip to France. If you’d like to help, please click below.
