East Wales will meet West Wales in an under 16s Origin fixture ahead of the Betfred Women’s Super League South Grand Final, later this month.

The youngsters will follow in the footsteps of the Wales women’s senior team when they take to the field at Pandy Park, home of Cross Keys RFC on Saturday 27 August.

Ahead of that fixture, all girls in school years 8-11 (2021-22 academic year) are invited to a development day at Pontyclun RFC (CF72 9DQ), this Sunday 14 August (12pm-2pm). Led by Wales Rugby League Women and Girls Development Officer, Louise Morgan, the session is open to any girl regardless of experience, and is free to attend.

As well as helping to select the under 16s teams (school years 10 and 11), the day will also be for the under 14s age group (years 8 and 9) with a view to a possible Origin fixture on the same day as the women’s Grand Final.
