It’s the decider on Sunday between Wales and Ireland U19

Ireland U19s face Wales at Featherstone Rovers RLFC on Sunday (kick-off 2pm) for a chance to win the inaugural Tony Dale Cup.

The series is currently tied at one game apiece, setting up an exciting final game. Wales claimed victory in the first game, edging out Ireland 26-22, but Ireland came back strong in the second game with a decisive 36-10 win in Belfast.

This match has been organised by Rugby League Ireland and the Cup is named after Tony Dale, a tireless volunteer in rugby league in Ireland, he founded two clubs – Longhorns and Athboy – who sadly died in April this year.

Wales have largely stuck with the side who played in the last match against Ireland, with just former Wales U16 international Jacob Morris a newcomer to the squad. Sam Grice returns to the U19 side after making his senior men’s debut against France last month.

Ireland have made a handful of changes with Jack Brown, Tom Rhodes and Zak Brand all set to make their U19 debuts after all previously playing for Ireland U16s against Wales in June earlier this year.

Their captain Tom Ashurst, as well as Daniel Coop, James Farrar, Jamie Gill, Conlan Mawson, Jake Parkes, Adam Quinn and Lewis Wing all made their full Ireland senior men debuts earlier this year.
