Over 400 matches will be played by the Welsh domestic clubs (plus two from England) when the running rugby league season launches this weekend with U13 matches, before all age-groups along with the JES Group Rugby League Conference officially start on the weekend of 17/18 May.
This year, there are competitions at U12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 levels as well as senior men’s level, plus non-competitive fixtures featuring U8, 9, 10 and 11 sides.
Seventeen clubs have entered the leagues this year, including four new outfits, Blaenau Gwent Bobcats. based in Brynmawr, Swansea Silverbacks, based in Morriston, Swansea Valley Spartans, based in Ystradgynlais and West Wales Jets, based in Ammanford.
Also brand new to the Welsh set-up are Swindon St George, who already enter a side in the WRL Wheelchair League. They will be entering the WRL U14 and U16 leagues, in addition to fellow English side Bristol All Golds.
It all ends with two weekends of Grand Finals. The U12-15 finals will be held on Sunday 27 July, whilst the U16, 18 and men’s JES Group Rugby League Conference Final, will be held on Saturday 2 August, all at The Lextan Gnoll in Neath.
Please note, there are no senior men’s games this weekend in the JES Rugby League Conference. All matches originally scheduled for 10 May will now be played later in the season. More news on that to follow.
