North Wales Crusaders will take on Argonauts in the WRL Wheelchair Invitational League Grand Final on a date and location to be confirmed.
That’s after they beat Hereford Harriers 38-6 in the second game of three in Treforest today.
Hereford still had an outside chance of joining Argonauts in the end-of-season clash, but that was soon quashed.
Most of the Crusaders side were playing their second game of the weekend after they beat York Knights 126-0 in the RFL Championship play-offs on Saturday.
They were up against tougher opposition in Hereford, but they did go into a quick 20-0 lead, through an early Fionn McCabe try, then three from Matthew Turner, two of which he converted.
Stuart Williams stormed through for the next try. Turner converted, before adding another try and goal to put the score onto 32-0 at half-time.
A Seb Groves try and goal got Hereford back into the game two minutes into a second half that turned into an excellent defensive performance from both sides. It wasn’t until two minutes before the end before McCabe broke through for his second of the game with Mason Baker converting.
Hereford had taken the points in the first encounter of the day, overcoming hosts Cardiff Blue Dragons 38-12.
First and tenth minute tries from Phil Davies, both converted by Groves, who scored a late first half try of his own, gave Hereford a 16-0 lead at the break.
Groves was first on the board in the second half with an unconverted try. Further tries came from Harry Norton, Alan Sheriff and two more from Groves, with Groves converting once more.
Cardiff struck back, initially when the score was 26-0, through a long-range Charlie Puddick try that Lee Sargent improved. Sargent also went over with Dan Martin converting.
In the final game of the day, a hat-trick of tries from captain Puddick wasn’t enough for Cardiff as they went down 48-20 to Crusaders.
Early tries from McCabe and Turner put Crusaders into an 8-0 lead. Cardiff scored a try back when Puddick scored under the sticks. Dan Martin converted.
Crusaders led 24-6 at the break thanks to tries from Turner, Jess Booth and Jakub Wasiecko, two of which Turner converted and they wrapped it up in the second half with two more tries from Turner, one from McCabe and one from Williams, with Baker converting all four.
Cardiff replied with the remaining two Puddick tries and one from Martin, with Lee Sargent converting once.
