WRL announce half-price admission for current and former Armed Forces members on Sunday

Wales Rugby League have announced that all tickets for Wales Dragonhearts v Lithuania at Cardiff Arms Park this Sunday (kick-off 2.30pm) will be half-price for current or former members of the Armed Services.

As this historic match, the first international for the visitors, is on Remembrance Sunday, Dragonhearts’ head coach Ian Newbury, felt that this had to be done to recognise those who have or still are serving our nation.

Any serving member or former members of the Armed Services will be able to watch the game for just £2.50, providing they show a current valid ID card or Veterans badge on the gate.

Newbury said: “With the game falling on Remembrance Sunday, I think it’s an ideal opportunity for the Wales Rugby League community to honour those who give so much for us.

“Many of our past players fought in the World Wars and in recent years we’ve had full international Lewis Taylor and Dragonhearts player Jim Barnes, who both served in the Royal Navy. Also Wales Women’s squad member Vicky Lea is currently in the British Army.

“Wales Dragonhearts and Students also often take on Armed Forces sides in friendly matches.

“This is just another way of continuing our link with the Armed Forces and give something back.”
