WRL send good luck message to our students in the GB Pioneers side

Good luck to our three Wales Students Rugby League players who are currently out in Albania getting ready to play their first match of a two- game tour today.

Rowland Kaye and Kyle King from Cardiff Metropolitan University, join George Edge from University of Warwick on the tour.

Kaye, who also plays for West Wales Raiders, and Edge, both won caps for Wales Students this summer.

All are going to be turning out for Great Britain Pioneers, a side selected from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales students, who travel to countries with little Rugby League provision and supports them with development for a week, as well as playing two games.

In the past, the Pioneers have gone to nations like Hungary and Morocco to help spread the game of rugby league. This tour is entirely self-funding and all players have sourced sponsors to be able to travel.

The squad face Tirana RLFC today and then the Albanian national side on Saturday. We will post more news and updates from them here and on our social media channels when known.

WRL chairman Brian Juliff said: “Well done to all three Welsh lads for their selection for Great Britain Pioneers. Have a fantastic time out in Albania, enjoy playing rugby league and well done on helping to spread the game.”
