Wales Wheelchair head coach Alan Caron is looking ahead to a productive 2025 as he works towards the 2026 Rugby League World Cup in Australia.
The 47-year old, who was a founder member, first-ever coach and the first-ever captain of the Wales Wheelchair side back in 2012, will continue as head coach for at least the next two seasons.
A multiple Celtic Cup winner as a player, Caron coached Wales to success in 2023 and also led the squad to an historic tour of the USA a year ago.
Now, with his backroom staff assembled, Caron can’t wait for a productive year.
Caron said: It’s great to get back into the hot-seat now to prepare for 2025 and 2026.
“Gary Taylor is continuing as assistant coach, which is absolutely brilliant and Steve Abel will be taking over as team manager, taking over from Steve Jones so he can concentrate on his other roles in Wales Rugby League.
“We’re now going to sit down and put a small plan into place that we’ve already had in mind for the last couple of months.
“We had a record number of players in 2024 which has given us a good pool. Now we can plan for the next two Celtic Cup competitions, the World Cup and any other competitions in between.”
