Clecs Media North Wales Men’s League to kick-off on Saturday 4 June

A new season of community men’s rugby league begins in North Wales on Saturday 4 June with a double header of action in Colwyn Bay.

The competition will be sponsored by Clecs Media, who have invested a substantial amount into North Wales Rugby League by providing playing kits for every community club.

The season will kick-off at Parc Eirias when new side Bangor Buffalos entertain last year’s surprise package Marchogion Môn Knights (kick-off 2pm) as a curtain-raiser to North Wales Crusaders League 1 fixture against Keighley Cougars.

Meanwhile, across the town at Rydal School, there’s a repeat of last year’s Grand Final as Conwy Celts start the defence of their title by entertaining arch-rivals Flintshire Falcons at Rydal with a 2:30pm Kick off.

Each club will play home and away fixtures against one another with two league fixtures and a Grand Final being staged at Parc Eirias on Saturday 23 July.

The winners of this league will then take on the winners of the South Wales Men’s League after their season concludes on August 21.

North Wales Community Chairman Conrad Anderson said: “We’ve all worked hard to ensure that community rugby league has a presence in North Wales in 2022 and after a truncated season in 2021, we are delighted that we can build on the successes of last season.

“With the unwavering support from North Wales Crusaders, we are now able to shine a spotlight on the community game playing on the hallowed turf of Parc Erias.

“We will also be working closely with Wales Rugby League to put refereeing and coaching courses on in the region to enhance the development of the game.

“I would like to thank Clecs Media for working closely with us to make sure that the sustainability of community rugby league is at the forefront and we look forward to be working with them for many years to come.”

WRL General Manager Mark Jones said: “I am very impressed with the tireless work that the North Wales Rugby League committee have put in during the off-season. They have managed to secure Clecs Media as the main sponsor of the North Wales League and this will bring huge benefits to the development of the community game in North Wales. North Wales Crusaders Foundation and WRL will now look to build the junior boys and girls game.

“With an Origin series between North, West and East planned in September and a first-ever Welsh Champions Cup Final – North vs South in the diary, this year is looking very exciting.”
