North Wales Crusaders deliver community programme

North Wales Crusaders Community has recently delivered its community educational programme which was led by Conrad Anderson.

The programme started by attending Ysgol Cefn Mawr during it’s “Healthy Living Week” where Anderson delivered short workshops on rugby league ball skills. These short sessions were delivered to Keystage 1 and Keystage 2 children.

Commenting on the workshops, Anderson said “I was delighted to be invited back to Ysgol Cefn Mawr to participate in the healthy themed week.

“The workshop promoted communication and team building skills through the medium of rugby league.

“The community programme was concluded last month at the home of Cefn Druids, as six Wrexham schools involving 60 boys and girls participated in a touch rugby league competition.

“We would like to thank Ysgol Cefn Mawr, Ysgol Cynnddelw, Ysgol Gwersyllt, Ysgol Maes-y-Llan,Ysgol Maes-y-Mynydd and Hafod-y-Wern for supporting the event.

“It was fantastic to see youngsters playing rugby league, the children thoroughly enjoyed the event and we saw some pretty good talent too, our aim now is to continue the community programme and roll it out across the North Wales region.

“We need to inspire children to pick up a rugby league ball and with the hope we find the future Morgan Knowles, Regan Grace, Elliot Kear and Rhys Williams.”

Ian Edwards, Chairman of North Wales Crusaders, watched the games and presented the trophies and WRL director Neil Lynch attended the event.

Lynch said: “It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying rugby league and thanks to Conrad’s commitment and hard work and the staff and teachers from the schools, the event was a roaring success and hopefully we can make this a regular event in the Wales Rugby League calendar.”
