Opportunity: Under 16s Assistant Coach

We are inviting applicants to support our Under 16’s programme in the role of Assistant Coach, working alongside with the staff already in place.

This position may require international travel and all applicants must hold a full valid passport, driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Salary: Volunteer

Term: through to end of 2026 programme, to be reviewed after the 2025 programme.

Location: Various sites across North Wales and South Wales

Deadline: Friday 1st November 2024

Purpose of the Role

· To assist in the planning, preparation and coaching of players in the representative Wales programme.

Principal Duties and Activities

· To assist in the planning, implementation and review of all training sessions regarding the technical and tactical delivery to the squad and preparation of the team prior to fixtures.

· Remain aware and take responsibility for players’ technical, tactical, physical and mental preparation in conjunction with the relevant Wales Rugby League staff.

· Link with the team manager to ensure the pastoral welfare and individual needs are accounted for.

· To assist in the monitoring and evaluation of individual player performance in conjunction with other coaching team members / Wales Rugby League staff.

· To assist in the provision of feedback in conjunction with other team members / Wales Rugby League staff.

· Undertake such duties, as maybe required from time to time, as are consistent with the post and needs of Wales Rugby League.

Essential experience and specialist knowledge

· The ability to prepare plans of a high standard to ensure effective preparation and participation in an elite competition.

· Excellent communication skills with both players and staff.

· Previous experience of coaching within an elite and / or performance environment.

Desirable knowledge

· Experience of overseas travel with a touring sports squad.

· Knowledge of the South Wales community game and WRL pathway.

· A good working knowledge of IT including ability to work with common Microsoft packages.

· A commitment to being developed as a coach.

Education and training

· A full, valid driving licence.

· Evidence of taking further personal development opportunities.

· Rugby Football League UKCC Level 2 Coach (Working towards and other sports will be considered).

· Up to date DBS.

· Safeguarding and Protecting Children (SPC) course.
