Wales Rugby League have linked up with the website, Rugby League Project, to display the official statistics for the Welsh national side.
Rugby League Project is a free online database accessible to all. It is an ongoing project that has been created with the intention to store the results, scorers and line-ups from every Rugby League international match ever played, as well as stats from Super League and Australia’s NRL.
It is already the only online resource that features all the results, line-ups and scorers from all the Rugby League World Cups and now it contains the details from every full Wales international match ever played.
In addition, fans will be able to see details of every player who has turned out for Wales. It is possible to sort this list into various orders to see who is top scorer of tries, goals, drop goals and points or who has made the most appearances. It is also possible to sort players by their on-field position while all known dates and places of birth are also included. Wales Rugby League are appealing for missing dates and places of birth to complete this section of the database and if known to email firstname.lastname@example.org
Also included on the database is a list of venues that Wales have played in, head to head results against other nations, a list of head coaches from 1975 onwards and a special records section.
“We are delighted to have linked up with Rugby League Project,” said Wales Rugby League’s Executive Chairman, Mark Rowley. “We’d like to thank Shawn and Andrew from Rugby League Project for all the hard work that put into this and we’re pleased to be the first nation to officially link up with them. With Wales competing in the 2011 Four Nations and hosting a group in the 2013 England and Wales Rugby League World Cup, we needed an efficient structure for our historical statistics and Rugby League Project have provided this. We hope that it will be of use to supporters and journalists alike.”
Creators of Rugby League Project, Shawn Dollin and Andrew Ferguson, said: “We are proud and ecstatic and very honoured that one of the oldest and most respectable and honourable rugby league nations in Wales, has an affiliation with us. It is very exciting and rewarding for us. We’d also like to give a massive thank you to Ian Golden for his assistance in this whole process. Without his input this affiliation would not have happened.”
