Carfan Cymru 2026 | Dan 16

Wales U16’s new head coach Tom Marsh has released his 24-player squad who will defend their Four Nations title this summer.

The Welsh travel to Ireland first up, facing their opponents at Westmanstown in Dublin on Saturday 23rd May. They’re then back in Wales on Sunday 7th June when take on Scotland in Merthyr Tydfil, before the final game on Saturday 20th June against England in Neath.

Wales go into this tournament on a nine-match unbeaten run after winning the last three U16 Four Nations titles, with five of this year’s squad, Charlie Eatly, Scott Hewitt, Kelyn Jude-Hobbs, Zac Nottingham and Rhys Wood, part of last year’s champion side.

No fewer than 20 of the 24 have come through the Wales Rugby League community club pathway, and all of those have represented their regional Origin sides, 12 from West Wales and eight from East Wales.

There’s a good spread of South Wales-based players, with seven coming from Bridgend Blue Bulls, six from Torfaen Tigers, two each from Aber Valley Wolves, West Wales Jets and Cynon Valley Cavaliers, and one from Aberavon Fighting Irish.

Two of the remaining four players, Mason Lewis and Cyrus Owen-Green come from the Conwy County Borough, home of North Wales Crusaders.

Tom Marsh said: “Over the past few months of the trial process, it has been a real pleasure working with players from all over Wales, plus those who qualify through heritage.

“All of the players have been highly impressive, demonstrating excellent skill levels across every aspect of the sessions, including the training match against the Wigan Warriors Scholarship.

“As this is my first year as head coach of the U16s, I am very much looking forward to working with the final 24-player squad to support their development and help them strive to reclaim the Four Nations title.”
