Carys Marsh was a Wembley winner on Saturday and in doing so went down in history as the first Welsh international to ever win a Women’s Challenge Cup Final medal. Caleb Aekins was also at Wembley on Saturday, playing for Featherstone Rovers in the 1895 Cup Final, but they went down 5-4 after golden point extra time to York Knights.
In Super League Reserves, Sam Grice was on the losing side for Castleford Tigers at home to Wigan Warriors.
Harry Hayes was on target for Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, scoring a try in their win over Parramatta Eels in the NRL.
There were a few Welsh internationals playing in the WRL Wheelchair Invitational League as per usual, with Lee Sargent scoring six tries in Cardiff Blue Dragons’ win over Swindon St George. His dad, Paul Sargent also went over for a try. Harry Jones, on loan to Swindon for the match, crossed for two tries.
Torfaen Tigers had three Welsh internationals in their win against North Wales Crusaders, with the league’s top performer so far in Jamie Reynolds scored five tries and kicking six goals. His dad Jason Reynolds crossed for two tries, as did Scott Trigg-Turner. Jess Booth replied with two tries for Crusaders, Martin Turner kicked two goals, with Brogan Evans also in the Crusaders line-up.
