UNDER 15 FINAL – TORFAEN TIGERS 24 CARDIFF CITY RL SPARTANS 20

Torfaen Tigers and Cardiff City Spartans fought out a 10-try thriller in the WRL under 15 Final but it in the end it was Jon Watkins’ two conversions for the Cwmbran based side that was the difference.

A Karling Claridge try in the corner gave Cardiff a first minute lead.

A well worked try for James Wickham levelled things before Euaun Morris gave them the lead with Watkins converting.

Straight after that, Scott Winter ran through for Torfaen’s third that was again converted by Watkins leaving the score 16-4 at half-time.

Cardiff started the fight back early on in the second half as a spectacular hat-trick from Jay Jones brought things level.

The first was just right of the sticks, the second in the right corner and the third was on the left flank. However all three goal attempts were missed.

Torfaen regained the lead after Scott Winter broke through to score before David Brannock reached over to extend the Tigers advantage. Both kicks were missed leaving the score at 24-16.

James Wickham’s unconverted try brought it back to 24-20 and there were chances at both ends for further scores but the Tigers held on.

2015 UNDER 14 FINAL – SOUTH WALES RABBITOHS 48 ABER VALLEY WOLVES 10

Favourites SW Rabbitohs from Llanharan continued the good fortune for the Bridgend County Borough as they stormed to a win in the WRL Under 14 Final, beating Aber Valley Wolves 48-10.

Two early unconverted tries from Lloyd Wilkins opened proceedings before Jake Cannon’s third made the score 12-0.

Wolves halved the deficit soon after that through a Corel Chamberlain try that Aaron Billingham improved but the rest of the half belonged to the Rabbitohs with a performance echoing their Australian idols.

Morgan John was next over the line, followed by Harry Deaves and Josh Sands with Ioan Evans converting twice bringing the score to 28-6 at the break.

Will Clapham got the first of a brace of tries a few minutes into the second half with Jack Dixon over for the next, that one converted by Evans.

Christian Nicedays got a try back for the Wolves but three unconverted scores from the Rabbitohs cemented the win with Tom Sly, Sam Costelow and Clapham scoring late tries.

UNDER 13 FINAL 2015 – BRIDGEND BLUE BULLS 20 ABER VALLEY WOLVES 16

In a real game of two halves, Bridgend Blue Bulls clinched the WRL Under 13 Final with a try in the last five minutes from Lloyd Truman after the Wolves had come back from being 16-0 down at half time.

Bridgend dominated the first period with a Mason Hughes try converted by Sam Owen giving them a 6-0 lead.

Ben Owen followed him over with Sam again converting before Sam scored one of his own but failing to land the extra on this occasion.

The Sengheydd-based Wolves fought back after the interval. Kyle Huish was first on the scoresheet, his try converted by Joshua Ponchaud, Will Holmes try made it 16-10 before Shaun Webber scored and Ponchaud goaled to level things up.

But there had to be a winner and following Truman’s heroics, Bridgend defended well to prevent the Wolves from clinching it themselves.
