There could be a Welsh winner in the Women’s Super League Grand Final this year. Welsh internationals went up against each other in both of yesterday’s semi-finals, with Dani McGifford‘s St Helens side overcoming Agnes Wood‘s York Valkyrie in the first match. They’ll take on old rivals Wigan Warriors, with Carys Marsh helping them to the final with a win over Leeds Rhinos, who fielded Bethan Dainton.
Two players made their final men’s Super League appearance of the season last Thursday. Luke Thomas played in Warrington Wolves’ defeat at Hull Kingston Rovers, whilst Denive Balmforth was in the Hull FC line-up that lost at home to Catalans Dragons.
In the Championship, two more players ended their domestic seasons. Gil Dudson‘s Oldham were eliminated from the play-offs after a home defeat to Halifax Panthers, whilst a Caleb Aekins try couldn’t prevent a loss for Featherstone Rovers at Bradford Bulls.
And in Australia, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, who had Harry Hayes come off the bench, also played their last match of the season after being overwhelmed at home by reigning premiers Penrith Panthers.
