South Wales Jets claimed their first win of the season after beating Bridgend Blue Bulls 42-14 in Pyle on Saturday.
The Jets, who changed 50 percent of their side following last week’s defeat, were in control from the start and a Ben Pinnock try gave them the lead in the second minute, with Morgan Raison converting, the first of his five goals in the match.
They were 16-0 up on 12 minutes thanks to tries from Dean Higgs and Jack Hodder, but Bridgend soon pulled it back to 16-10. First was a try from Donovan Rankin, converted by Llewellyn Hawkes, then an unconverted Owen Thomas score.
But the Jets went into half-time 22-10 to the good thanks to a converted Johnathan Reid try.
The visitors then took control of the second half, starting with two quick tries from Aaron Lloyd and Alex Langworthy.
Karlin Claridge pulled a try back for Bridgend, but the Jets cemented the win after Lewis Howells and Lewis Hughes ran over.
There was a thriller in Hirwaun where Rhondda Outlaws recovered from their defeat to Bridgend last week, as they overcame Cynon Valley Cavaliers 36-34.
The Cavaliers outscored the Outlaws on tries, seven to six, but it was the victors kicking that was the big difference as they converted all of their tries, the Cavaliers just managing three goals.
There were six different try scorers for Rhondda – Callum Llewellyn, Oliver Ford, Jack Griffiths, Calum Jones, Thomas Fry, and Mason Apsee who kicked four of the goals. Lloyd Miller converted two of the tries.
For Cynon Valley, Conrad Gregory scored a hat-trick of tries, with Connor Lacey, Alex Evans, Travis Hawkins and Jacob Morris each adding one. Luke Jones converted twice and Dylan Perry-Roberts once.
